SAGE FARM
YOUR HOSTS : Al & Sue Grant
We moved here in 1996 along with our sheep and border collies, from a smaller acreage in the Fraser Valley.
After bringing electricity and water service to the property, our first few years were occupied by renewing fencing, old pastures and hayfields and building barns, sheds and shelters and establishing organic fruit and vegetable gardens. We have had invaluable help from time to time from visiting friends and relatives.
Building of the farmhouse began in 2001 with professional help on framing and roofing. After the building was enclosed, we did the remaining construction, services, and finishing ourselves.
Sue is a Registered Physiotherapist and operates a part-time Physiotherapy Clinic at the farmhouse.
The farmhouse, some furnishings, and outbuildings feature wood, felled, sawn and shaped on our own equipment. Our WoodMizer sawmill allows cutting of conventional or unusual sizes of lumber and we may do some custom cutting if we ever finish our own building program.
Planned projects include a straw-bale cabin The cabin will be available as further self-contained or B & B accommodation.
